How to sign up for Bybit: affiliate code, ID check and futures

Open a Bybit account step by step: where the referral or affiliate code goes, the 14-day window for adding an affiliate code later, identity verification, the unified trading account for perpetuals, and the fee cashback.

Bybit's sign-up is short, and it has one more chance to fix a mistake than most exchanges: an affiliate code that was missed at sign-up can still be added within 14 days. This guide follows Bybit's own help articles, shows what the sign-up page offers through vibgg's link, and covers the unified trading account that perpetual futures run on.

Disclosure: the sign-up links on vibgg are referral links, and vibgg's Bybit link belongs to Bybit's affiliate programme. The steps are the same with or without it.

Before you start

  • Check that Bybit serves your region. Bybit shows a warning on the sign-up form when the visitor's IP address is in one of its restricted regions, as in the screenshot below. Do not try to get around it.
  • Have your ID ready. Bybit sends new accounts straight to identity verification, which unlocks its products.
  • One email or phone number per account. Bybit links each address and number to a single account.

  1. Open the Bybit sign-up page and enter your email address or mobile number.
  2. Keep the referral or affiliate code. Bybit asks for it before you select the sign-up button; arriving through the link fills it in. Bybit notes that once the account is created you cannot add, change or delete the code, apart from the affiliate exception below.
  3. Complete the captcha and enter the code sent to your email or phone.
  4. Set your account password. Bybit then opens your account dashboard.

If the affiliate code is missing

Bybit lets a main account add an affiliate's invitation code within 14 days of registering, if the account has no affiliate or referral code yet. Go to Profile → Account → Account Info and select Join an Affiliate's Community; if the option is not there, the account does not qualify. This only works for codes from Bybit's affiliate programme, not for codes one user gives another, and it cannot replace a code already registered.

To see which affiliate code your account is registered with, open the same Account Info page. Bybit notes that some affiliate IDs are hidden there for the affiliate's privacy.

Step 2: verify your identity

Start identity verification from the dashboard Bybit opens after sign-up. It is what gives the account access to Bybit's full range of products; the documents accepted depend on your country.

Step 3: trade perpetuals from the unified trading account

Bybit's perpetual futures run on its Unified Trading Account, which new users are given automatically. Deposits and withdrawals go through the separate Funding Account, so either direct a deposit to the Unified Trading Account when you make it, or move USDT across with Transfer before you trade.

Then choose the margin mode and leverage on the order panel. Leverage changes the margin you put up, not the funding, which is charged on the position's full value; the guide to what leverage costs and the guide to funding and liquidation risk cover both choices. Bybit's own funding page lists each contract's settlement interval, explained in the guide to settlement times.

The fee cashback

The sign-up page for vibgg's link offers a 10% fee cashback, subject to the terms linked from that page. Like other exchanges' rebates, it does not change the fee shown on each trade: you pay the standard rate and the cashback is credited under the programme's terms. If you are unsure whether it applies to your account, check the affiliate code on your Account Info page first.

What your first futures trades cost

A regular Bybit account pays 0.02% as a maker and 0.055% as a taker on standard USDT perpetuals, before any cashback. Bybit's fee schedule charges more on its Innovation Zone and pre-listing contracts, so check which group a contract is in.

Funding is charged on top, at each settlement. The Bybit fee page shows every VIP level and what a month of trading costs at each volume, and the funding fee calculator compares a position's funding on Bybit with the other four exchanges.
